Cystadenofibroma of the Left Salpinx

Abstract
Cystadenofibroma of the fallopian tube was first reported by Iwanov in 1909. This tumor was histologically characterized by a prominent fibrous tissue component in addition to their epithelial elements. The tumor in our case was incidentally found in a 43-year-old woman(8-0-3-5), who underwent a total abdominal histerectomy with left salpingo-ophorectomy. A small cyst, filled with clear serous fluid, 1 cm in diameter, was located at the fimbriated portion of left salpinx. The cystic wall was histologically lined by ciliated to nonciliated cuboidal cells with round hyperchromatic nuclei, showing papillae composed of prominent fibrous tissue. Also noted were areas showing transition from nonedematous to severely edematous area and the scattered glandular structures in cystic wall. The additional finding was cystic wall containing smooth muscular bundles highly suggestive of tubal origin. Sections from left ovary represented corpus luteum.
A case of cystadenofibroma in left salpinx is reported with the brief literature.
